History

The Department of History, Government Degree College, Salur was established in the year 1982 since college inception. As part of a Bachelor of Arts (3-year) Undergraduate course, Students pursuing the Political Science discipline.  The college was affiliated with Andhra University and the department duly followed all the syllabus and guidelines mandated by the Andhra University and also added or enriched content.

Presently, The Department was one sanctioned lecturer post filed by Guest Faculty 

The Department was also conducting a wide range of programs to bring awareness on Social, Political, Economical, and Cultural issues and sensitize the students of all courses including B.Com and B.Sc. 

The Government Degree College Is Established In The Year 1982 Under The Order 2f And 12b Of Government Of Andhra Pradesh . In The Beginning Of The College It Was Started And Functioning With The Courses Of BA And B.Com . Arts Department Has Been Functioning Since Inception Of The College . Initially The BA Course Was Started Under New Scheme And Further It Was Functioning Under Common Core Syllabus From 1992 T0 2014 . UGC  Introduced CBCS ( Choice Based Credit System ) Course From The Academic Year 2015 – 2016 For First Year Students . In This Year 2 Semester And 4 Mid  Exams Are Conducted By Au . Every Semester Has 75 Marks And Every Mid Examination Has 25 Marks Twice In A Year

The Department Of History Has Started With Inception Of The College In 1982 . The College And The Department Has Been Established To Cater The Needs Of Poor ,  Needy , Backward And  Tribal Area Students. The Entire Saluru Division  Is Depending On Government Degree College At Saluru . Most Of The Families Are Socially And Ecomically  Very Backward And For All Of Them Agriculture In Main Occupation . Thus They Depend Only On Government Institutions . From The Beginning The Demand For BA Course Is Very High  . It Is An Undergraduate Institution With Co Education

 The Department Is Highly Coordinative  With The Students And Involved Them In Academic And Social Activities . The Department Has Involved In Coaching For Competitive Exams

 Objective Of The Department :

1. As We All  Know The Place Of Economics In Social Sciences Even Further The Importance Of History  In Growing In This Era Of Globalization .
2. The Main Objective Of The Department Of History  Is Helping Students To Understand How The Economy Works And  Its Importance In Shaping The Society National Large  The Life Of Man On Globe.
3. Further Even As A Career How The  Study Of History Can Open Opportunities In Higher Education
