The Government degree college is established in the 1982 under the order 2f and 12b of Government of Andhra Pradesh. In the begging of the college it was started and functioning with the courses of B.A and B.Com the department of commerce is functioning since inception of the college. Initially the B.Com course was started under new scheme and further it was functioning under common core syllabus from 1992 to 2000. The common course syllabus comprised the elective subjects of Costing and Taxation. The Andhra University introduced Computer applications as one of the subject in IInd and Final B.Com course and modified the common core syllabus into revised common core in the year 2000-2001 and fallowed it till to date. The department opted principles of marketing and rural marketing as elective subjects in the Final Year B.Com courses.
Our UGC introduced CBCS(Choice Based Credit System) course from the academic year 2015-2016 for 1st year students. In this year Two semesters and Four Mid exams are conducted by AU. Every semester have 75 Marks and Every mid examination have 25marks twice in a year.
In the academic year 2020-21 our APSCHE decided admissions through on OAMDC and allotted colleges. In the same year APSCHE also decided to implement Continuous Internal Assesment (CIA) in the place of Internal Examinations .
The Main objectives of the Department
- To enable the commerce students to know various needs of industry and service sector
- To equip them with computer knowledge and to enable them to know the growing importance of information technology in business sector
- To enable the students to understand the day to day changes in commerce syllabus
- To make them to recognize the growing importance of commerce and management in socio economic life
- Being the leading college in the commerce stream global department in education and adopting the latest technology (E-Class room, LMS, MOOCS). Improving the standard of the courses innovative and effective teaching methods and curriculum development.
- Attracting conductive and motivating work environment through career guidance
- Participating in and contributing to the formulation of public
- The existing curriculum of the college lends itself to life skills(HVPE, Environmental Education , ICT, Analytical skills) and skill development ( Insurance Promotion, Business Communication, Logistics and Supply chain management, Retailing )also
- In this scenario according to NEP -2020 students is training in field survey and make mini project(CSP) and they are in internship also in the period of 8 weeks

Best and Healthy Practice of the Department
Annual Curricular plans: With reference and methodologies are prepared well in advance for every subject and made available for students in the calss rooms.
Bridge Courses are conducted to bridge the gap between the commerce and non commerce student in 1st year for the subjects accounting and economics. The objective is to lay foundation on the subject and bring new ideas and thoughts in understanding the subject easily.
Mock vivais conducted for the students to prepare them for their final examination.
Students are taken to industrial visits tointerpret the curriculum practically.
Student are given assignments throughout the academic year to enable them to get through knowledge in the subjects.
In the process of continues evaluation students take up seminars on curriculum subjects & also on the topics of the subjects incorporating the day to day development.
Students are encouraged to become members of commerce club which is established with objective of developing leadership qulaties and event management skills in the students and is active in conducting various events like management quiz, group discussions and presentations etc…
Internet based projects are given to the students as a part of those lab record work for better understanding of theory subjects.
Guest Lectures by the subject experts like charted accounts and academicians for better understanding of subjects.
Orientation programs is conducted for a 1st year students every year so as to make them set their goals and keep them focused in the right direction. Those orientation not only bring s knowledge in students mind but also inculcates morals and give a vision and mission of his and her features.
Regular curricular and attitude building extension lecturers by eminent personalities.
Remedial classesto enhance the performance.
Continuousinternal assessment(CIA) of students through unit tests, term examinations, assignments, group discussions and attendance, etc…
Literacy and cultural computations are conducted where students can exhibit therir skills & creativity.
Our students are part ofNSS where the idea is to awaken the social consciousness for community service with the motto “not me but you”.
The former students are invited to the college annual for the alumni get together to share their expertise and information.
