Language is our primary source of communication.It is the method through which we share our ideas and thoughts with others.English is one such language which not only helps in communication but acts as the gateway to the world of opportunities.English is the officail language of 53 countries and spoken by around 400 million people across the globe.There are several factors that make the English Language essential. English has been considered to be the first global Lingua Franca.In today's modern world the English language has become part and parcel of every existing field. English has been the international language of Communication,business, Aviation,Computers,Science and Technology ,tourism and so on. Moreover the ocean of career opportunities are opened to those people who are fluent in English.

The Department of English is as old as the college, i.e. 1982 since its inception the Department has been actively involving in academics and teaching part 1 English classes for under graduates. Two full time lecturers are engaged in teaching for B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com. streams offered by Andhra University , Visakhapatnam. Both the lecturers are competent enough and they devote the best of them to finish the syllabus every year while not compromising with the quality of teaching. These persons of great vision helped in building the Department and bought it to the enviable position it occupies today.

Programme Outcomes:

- Develop an interest in English and motivate them to learn the language.
- Enrich their LSRW (Listening, reading, writing and Speaking) skills so that they can pursue their personal, academic and career goals through the acquisition and improvement of English language and communication skills
- Appreciate the content of the given text and learn the skills of presentation in both speech and writing.
- Get acquaintance with the different types of expository text structures and use personal and cultural knowledge to interpret the information presented in the text and ‘create’ meaning.
- Learn the English Language skills that act as passport to the job market to all job seekers
- Acquire the ability to communicate well in English and possess a good educational foundation
- Obtain a measurable knowledge and a set of skills in using English language in personal and professional life
