The English Department of Government Degree College SALUR envisions graduates who become increasingly independent learners during the period of their UG programme.
We envision students who are empowered to express themselves clearly and boldly in English. To improve internet in the culture and literature among the students, to promote the research culture in language and literature and to inculcate creative thinking and writing.
MISSION
Department of English of GDC-Salur uses all its human and physical resources to provide practical learning activity leading to a master of all facets (Listening, Speaking, Reading and writing )of English as a second language. Our mission statement is “Quality Education –Noble Nation.”

A Commitment to enhancing personal competence in English for their personal, intellectual, social and professional development.
We want all students to leave this college with a satisfactory to excellent command of all facets of English language with an ability to think and act independently.
Our Department activities contribute to the friendly atmosphere, which we value.
PRACTICE
We focus on the supplementing the curriculum prescribed by the university by enriching classes on developing proper attitude and mind sets in the learners. The advanced areas of study not covered in the syllabus are taken up and specialized lecturers are given on them. Quality maintenance is a key concern. Lecturers update themselves with current information and knowledge of their respective subjects through internet, journals and attending seminars, workshops and refresher courses. A learner centered teaching method is adopted audio-visual aids like OHP, TV, LCD and CD player, visual classes, digital classes, podium used while teaching through LMS are effectively used for various subjects by the faculty.
